The Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act was passed in 2010 and implemented in 2014 to help reduce drug abuse, addiction and provide businesses and communities a safe and secure way to properly dispose of unused, expired medications. Up to 17% of prescribed medications goes unused, and if improperly disposed, could contribute to drug diversion and environmental problems.
